[1] Information (and photocopy of second state) supplied by the late Eugene Burden.

[2] Eugene Burden reports that 3075 copies were printed on 15th January 1902 (Vol. 33, index 5 of Bartholomew archives).

[3] The railway to Westward Ho! and Northam opened on the same day (24th April 1901) but the maps clearly show that the Northam stretch was added later than the Westward Ho! line.

[4] Ross Kennedy suggests coding is A for first half year and B for second half of year – here first half of 1919.

[5] This example has a sticker showing the map was distributed by Edward Stanford Ltd.

[6] This example has a sticker showing the map was distributed by Truscott's Library, The Quay, Bideford.
